Running influencer award 2017

Mummy's who runs
Running Influencer 2017
by Kerllen Rego

Having a busy routine wasn’t an excuse to not work out. Before becoming a mum, I used to go to the gym at least four times a week for two hours.

When I lived in Brazil, I used to wake up at 5am to go to the gym before starting work.

When I moved to London in 2001 to do my degree in marketing, I became member from the gym at the university then I moved to Mexico where I kept myself active. I have never made excuses to not work out. I have done it since I was child, even when my mum couldn’t take me to the ballet classes or to my swimming lessons, I walked on my own so I wouldn’t miss any classes. It’s part of my life and of my determination.

On the 25 week pregnancy we moved back to England and things wasn't so easy as it looked like.

It was stressed in ways I hadn’t imagined. I didn't want to cut the exercise of my life, so I decided to go for a walk and maintained a healthy diet during the pregnancy.

When my First Child was borned, I felt completely lonely, I was in a different country, in a different culture, I didn't have any friends around, my family was far away from me and I had a baby in my arms.

I didn't want to express how scared I was.

The  parenthood rarely goes as planned, whether it's your first, second .... child , but that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. It's normal for babies to turn our lives upside down. The best we can do is figure out how to adjust.

At the lonely times, I started feeling sadness, soon I realised that it could be a baby blue.

I didn't want to share with nobody my long lonely  time on the bed with my daughter on my arms when my husband was away for working, nor my husband was aware of it.

I was feeling completely stuck to go to the gym, I started thinking how i could come back to my exercises routine if I didnt have noone  to help me with my baby and the child care was a bit expensive . Luckily I had a great idea,  I went for a long walk with the buggy which gave me a bit of freedom.

After a week I started running with the pushchair around the village. i need that time,  my time, the time that I had to enjoy myself, to enjoy my baby and to do what I really like, get fit and workout.

I haven't stopped running since then. On my second pregnancy I run until the day before to the delivery. 😳😊. After 20 days of my deliver I came back running with the second newborn baby in the pushchair.

Now I try to look at the world in a very different way, all the time trying to searching to find an alternative viewpoint for any negative thoughts about situations. But above anything else I’ve done to try to deal with anxiety I rediscovered my love of running and started to run in anywhere that I go, the weather doesn't really matter I started to not worry about small things.

I realised that actually the mornings are a brilliant time to go, there is no-one about , the day is young and fresh and when I return I feel energised and ready to tackle the day. I’ve genuinely enjoyed it, even when it has been raining and cold.

Fortunately I have my husband that it's very supportive who I share my thoughts and my daughters who know that their mum is a running lover. This worked for me above all else and despite some ups and downs I think I have started to feel more and more confident.

In  2013 I started sharing my lifestyle with others . I started on the Instagram then YouTube ,  blog,   Facebook , twitter and Pinterest to motivate everyone for a  healthy lifestyle. today we are over 400k in total.

I have spent many hours of my spare time sharing my diet, sports, running, parenting routine with others .

I would like to say that I am so happy to be nominated by the women's running UK magazine as the influencer women's running 2017 award .

The email  said that :

" we're very excited to give some extra special love and recognition to the strong, motivational and inspiring efforts that influencers are making - your passion is infectious and appreciated and we want to help you spread it even further!
