Four Seasons Fairways

Four Seasons Fairways

Heading off on an October Half term holiday has got me all excited about  Portugal.

I love Portugal, it’s the country that I feel most at home in, mostly this has something to do with their cuisine, culture, language and weather.

As we always go to Lisbon and it has been a long time since we went to Algarve, we planned to spend our week in Quinta do Lago at Four Seasons Fairways

Quinta do Lago is the perfect destination for a luxurious and relaxing escape.

Set within a luscious green landscape,
 brilliant golf courses,
 tennis courts,
 and a long and
beautiful sandy beach.

The October half term is an excellent time to sneak in a cheeky holiday. As the colder temperatures start creeping in and the golden leaves begin to fall in UK, it can be tempting to escape somewhere with warmer climates and bluer skies.

The October half term holidays present the perfect time for taking the family away, and a break at this time of year can allow you to absorb enough sunshine to keep us smiling during the dark days awaiting you back in UK.

With a glorious climate all year round, the Algarve is perfect for a last-ditch beach holiday and there are countless attractions to keep the children happy.

Quinta do Lago has something for everyone. Nestled within the privacy of the Ria Formosa nature reserve, this unique Mediterranean resort allows you to live an active outdoor lifestyle all year round. This is really important to me when looking for a holiday spot.

Quinta do Lago is also known for its high-quality restaurants (you have to try Amara), famous golf courses and as a luxurious destination.

Whatever the season, at Four Seasons Fairways there is always a new experience to enjoy.

Whether you are a fitness enthusiast or a keen golfer, or you simply want to make the most of your holiday relaxing by the pool, they can guarantee something for everyone.

Our Trip

We flew from Cardiff to Faro.

In just 2:30 hrs we landed in Faro. Even having the transfer provided by the resort, we decided to rent a car to make the most of the joys the wider Algarve has to offer. Four SeasonsFairways have some great tips on their blog.

Comparing all the prices for major European car hire companies. It’s not expensive at all to go to a car rental. We paid less than £200 for a week with the full insurance included.

If you are thinking to go to Quinta do Lago, I recommend to rent a car, as public transport is not very extensive in the Quinta do Lago area. On top of that, it will give you the necessary freedom to discover the surroundings and visit some of the more remote beaches.

The distance from Faro is 15km, you also can drive to Albufeira, ponta da Piedade and many others villages around there.

Our Host

We had a wonderful surprise when we arrived at Four SeasonsFairways.

The place was beautiful,
 surrounded with palm trees,
white and magnolia houses
and an incredible atmosphere.

The villa was beyond our expectation. Their luxury and refurbished apartment blends Portuguese architecture with a modern contemporary touch in each room. We were welcomed with a healthy and delightful fruit basket and Porto Portuguese wine.

We were impressed with their open-plan kitchen. It is perfect to make a sociable space that all the family can enjoy together the holiday. The sophisticated design links to three different rooms. Tea room, dining room and tv room. Amazing.

The kitchen was fully equipped. Absolutely perfect to give us choices between eating out or making a homemade meal. You can also make use of the resorts take away menu.

Our apartment also had a jacuzzi and BBQ area on a private terrace. Pool’s are available but we were lucky enough to pick and it was sensational. We spent some very precious time together as a family in and around the property.

The bedrooms were a good size, big and comfy beds, wardrobes and toilets.

The girls were in love with their room.

The laundry was well equipped and easy to use.

The Resort

They have a fabulous Clubhouse with an outdoor heated pool, children's outdoor pool, indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath, gym, tennis courts, snooker room, golf shop, internet room, hairdresser & beauty salon, and during the school holidays, the children's club provide activities for children between 4 and 12 years old.

The indoor heated pool was the favourite place to my daughters.

They made good friends in the Village and they spent memorable moments playing together in the pool or in the village. The place is safe and quiet for children giving us some freedom to relax and to enjoy each other.

If you love fitness as I do, you’ll love their space. They have a fully equipped fitness centre with a comprehensive exercise area including cardiovascular machines, weight stations, Pilates ball and more.

The best of all is because you will be able to enjoy your holiday getting fit at the same time :).

Wow!!! What an incredible pair of restaurants . Their recently refurnished restaurants provide a menu for all tastes and occasions.

We were very impressed with the food quality.

There was a wide ranging À La Carte Breakfast Menu, healthy and delicious breakfasts with savoury and sweet choices, omelette, cooked breakfasts and smoothies.

My favourite breakfast was a dish called Salmon lovers that was an omelette served with smoked salmon, fresh cheese, rocket, avocado and a yummy and healthy smoothie made with avocado, goji berries and coconut water. It was so good. Unforgettable:).

My daughters had the same breakfast everyday. We ordered two different dishes to be shared with them. The English breakfast and pancakes. Happy children.

For my husband he had seeded brown toasts with coffee and milk.We also had all our dinner at VIVO BISTRO restaurant.

Every night was a different and unique experience with their

I absolutely loved the ALGARVIAN NIGHT with their Delicious menu including typical Algarvian seafood, fish and meat specialties.

On Thursday we had a babysitter to look after our daughters. And we had a marvellous experience at AMARA RESTAURANT

We can describe the night as unforgettable and the most sophisticated one.

Amara is their new restaurant serving contemporary cuisine with a Portuguese influence. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the night with a good chat, outstanding wine, with the highest quality gastronomic food.

Their well-prepared staff made a huge difference to our dinner. The sommelier, was well trained and he had an amazing knowledge of the wine.

He was specialised in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food pairing. He served the proper wines for each food.

Four Seasons Fairways in  Quinta do Lago was a place that I felt completely at home.

I had the privilege to run every morning during my stay.

I find this is the best way to connect to the many different places you have been on holiday but have never had the time to walk between.

I have found some roads that took me to the most incredible view of the beaches and the golf courses, and I wouldn’t have found that if I just stuck to a route.

There is also a water sports centre at the lakeside that offer windsurf boards, peddles and sailing boats to hire. Only at a 10-minutes walk away from the resort is another huge playground for young and old.

We also drove to different villages in Algarve. We had food at the shopping mall,

we visited some beaches and we went to Ponta da Piedade.

One of the most incredible places to visit. It is a group of rock formations along the coastline of the town of Lagos.

We also went to Rio Formosa, in Faro, just 20 min away from Quinta do Lago.

The Rio Formosa Natural Park is one of the most amazing places of the Algarve. We had the most amazing opportunity to appreciate the sunset from the boat eating fresh oysters drinking white wine.

The greatest of Quinta do Lago is because you can find amazing things to do during your holiday. If you fancy shops, you will like to visit Bouganvilia Plaza and Quinta Shopping situated at the entrance to Quinta do Lago with designer boutiques, restaurants, bars, banks and a supermarket as well as souvenirs.

If you’re a keen golfer, you will love this place. I have never seen so many golfers gathering in one single place. The reason of this is because Algarve is the most popular year-round golfing destination in Europe. And the courses in Quinta do Lago area justifiably have the best reputations ever.

Four seasons fairways resort is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a home away from home in the sunny setting. Thanks for the wonderful holiday. Hope I’ll be coming back soon.
